A Profound Heritage
The name 'Avaiki' evokes the concept of a 'spiritual homeland' and a profound heritage shaped by numerous natural and man-made perils. Our story embraces daring feats of ocean voyaging, remote island survival and pearl diving to world record depths against the ever-present risk of the 'bends'. As recently as 1997 Cyclone Martin claimed the lives of nineteen Manihikians and nearly cost the island its precious pearl industry.
This story of determination is etched into every Avaiki pearl.
