The Art of Discovery
Avaiki pearls inherit a long and colourful history. The early Polynesians were master navigators, traversing the world's largest ocean with consummate skill. Their keen eyes traced complex star paths and sensed the ocean's subtle mood shifts - the sea tone changes, currents and seabird life that were nature's signatures of land. What they discovered in the thirteenth century were some of the remotest islands on earth, Manihiki, Rakahanga and Tongareva (Penrhyn) - the proud home of Avaiki pearls.
Eight centuries later, discerning buyers around the globe are discovering for themselves the fashion appeal, quality, rarity and integrity of these very special gems from the Cook Islands.
